Is liposuction a good way to lose weight?


Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which the fat is removed from a particular area of the body that includes the hips, abdomen, buttocks, neck, and arms. This procedure uses a suction method to remove excess fat deposits in specific areas and to contour the parts of the body in which the procedure is performed. It is also called body contouring, lipoplasty, and suction-assisted lipectomy.

Liposuction is a minimally operating procedure that removes subcutaneous fat deposits (fat under the skin) by using a cannula. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that contour and shapes the body for a more aesthetic appearance you prefer rather than treating any underlying health conditions.  

Even though liposuction can result in you losing some weight but it is not the weight loss tool you should rely on. It is just an easy way to escape from reality. Liposuction can be the choice of surgery when you have excess fat in one area of the body but otherwise, your body has stable weight. The fat cells that are suctioned out of the particular part of the body will not grow again but there will still be little remaining fat cells in the area that can grow and expand if the person’s calories in is excessive than calories burnt.

Following the traditional diet and exercise lifestyle can bring the desired changes in the body’s appearance. But if liposuction is preferred, commitment to a healthy lifestyle post-surgery is needed to maintain surgically obtained results. Importantly, liposuction is performed to remove excess fat deposits from one area of the body in people who are within the ideal and healthy weight range to contour the localized areas of the body.
